CharlaViva has no accounts, no sign-in and no analytics. Your learning progress is stored on your own device and is never sent to us. One feature — Conversación — sends what you type or say to a language model in order to reply to it. That is the only part of the app that transmits anything you create.
Everything you do in the lessons: which sentences you have seen, how well you recalled them, your review schedule, streak, XP and settings. This lives in your browser's local storage or the app's local storage. We cannot read it. If you delete the app or clear site data, it is gone — which is why Settings offers an export you can keep yourself.
| What | Where it goes | Why |
|---|---|---|
| The messages you type or speak in Conversación, and the conversation so far | Our server on Vercel, then Anthropic's API | To generate the reply. Anthropic processes it to produce a response. |
| Your speech, when you tap the microphone | Your device's own speech recognition (Apple on iOS, the browser's engine on the web) | To turn speech into text so it can be checked or sent. Handling depends on your device and operating system settings, not on us. |
| Purchase confirmation for Level 3 | Apple, then our server | To confirm the purchase is genuine. We receive a transaction identifier from Apple — not your name, email or payment details. |
| Standard request data (IP address, timestamp, errors) | Vercel, our hosting provider | Ordinary server logs, used to keep the service running and to prevent abuse. |
In App Store terms that is three kinds of data, all of it used only to make the app work and none of it for tracking: a user ID (the anonymous RevenueCat identifier), purchase history (whether the subscription is active), and user content (the Spanish you type or say in Conversación). We collect no name, no email, no payment details, no location, no analytics and no diagnostics.
No advertising, no advertising identifiers, no tracking across apps or websites, no selling or sharing of personal data, no analytics SDKs, and no profile of you. There is nothing to log in to, so there is no account to breach.
Level 3 is a one-time purchase handled entirely by Apple. We never see your card details. Refunds are handled by Apple under their terms.
Level 3 is an optional paid subscription. Payment is handled entirely by Apple — we never see your card details, your name or your Apple ID. To know whether your subscription is active we use RevenueCat, which receives an anonymous identifier generated on your device and Apple’s record of the purchase. That identifier is not linked to any name or email, because we hold neither.
Our server asks RevenueCat one question before each Conversación reply: does this identifier have an active subscription. Nothing about what you said is included in that question.
Cancel any time in your Apple ID settings. Cancelling stops the next renewal; Levels 1 and 2 remain free and complete either way.
CharlaViva is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. Conversación generates language with a model, and although it is prompted to stay within a language-learning role, generated text is not guaranteed to be suitable for all ages.
Because we hold no account and no profile, there is generally nothing of yours for us to retrieve or delete — your data is on your device and under your control. If you believe we hold something relating to you, write to us and we will look.
Apple (purchases, and speech recognition on iOS), Anthropic (generating Conversación replies), and Vercel (hosting).
